Timeline
Designed in 2022, live at pages-lille.fr and in active daily use.
Pages Pro is the staff profile platform for Université de Lille, listing profiles of faculty, researchers, PhD candidates, and administrative staff. The redesign aimed to modernise the UI, improve mobile usability, and lay the groundwork for what would become the ULK design system. Originally built in 2022, it was one of the first real-world applications of ULK tokens, particularly around spacing, color consistency, and layout logic.
Context & role
I designed the initial mockups in Adobe XD, with front-end integration handled by the university's development unit. The project predates ULK as a formal system, but it's where several of its early conventions were first tested in production.
Key features
Full public staff profiles: bio, contact, courses, publications, responsibilities
Automatic syncing with HAL for publication listings
Fully responsive layout (mobile/tablet/desktop)
Dark mode support
Modular page layout by section
Search and filtering by department, discipline, or lab
Design & development
Pages were designed for clarity and low-density content blocks, prioritising readability over visual density given how much information a staff profile can hold. Color themes were based on an early version of the ULK palette, before it had a formal token structure. Contrast followed WCAG guidance where possible, though full accessibility compliance was not yet a project requirement at this stage.
Platform homepage: searchable staff directory.
Profile pages
Outcome
Navigation was simplified into clear tabs (Profile, Teaching, Publications, Roles, Background), and the platform became a base reference for later institutional profile pages. Feedback was particularly positive on the clean design and the HAL integration.
Status
Live and in active use. ULK tokens used on the platform are due to be updated to v2 in future iterations. Accessibility refinements and alternate display modes (print/export) are under consideration.
